Ascension Board Game History

Mythology has always fascinated me and stimulated my imagination. I remember reading The Twelve Labors of Heracles as a child and yes, imagining myself as Heracles. I have read far too many mythical tales to recount them all. Tales of Norse, Egyptian and other mythologies from around the world. These stories have inspired many others as well.

The accounts of gods, mortals and monsters in mythology often differ. The tales on how deities come to power for example. Zeus was hidden away just after or at birth in a cave by his mother (Rhea) so that he will not be consumed/swallowed by his father (Cronus). There is little information on Zeus’ years as a youth. The tales of him defeating Crones and what happens as he becomes the king of the Greek gods are wonderful stories, however, what is Zeus’s life as a young deity? Was he alone, did he find himself in conflict with dark and unknown creatures of the world? Did he interact with mortals? Did he have friends? This is where the idea of Ascension began.

Imagine yourself as a young Greek deity, you have many aspirations, they drive you. You know that you must make a mystic track to fulfill your destiny, you instinctively know there will be danger, you may make allies, or very dangerous enemies. Will you ascend and become the god of gods or fall along the way.

The Ascension board game is currently in phase two of play testing.
